WEDDING MUSIC AT THE REID ROOMS
The Reid Rooms
The Reid Rooms is a wonderful venue in the middle of the Essex countryside. Built nearly 200 years ago as stables for the working horses on Marks Hall Farm, the venue offers peace and seclusion and has a comfortable family atmosphere. All of the venue staff are friendly and work hard to make each bride feel special. The Reid Rooms offers brides a lot of flexibility and you can be sure that your dream wedding will come true here.

A Pianist for Your Civil Wedding Ceremony
The ceremony room at the Reid Rooms can accommodate 100 guests and we are often asked to provide a pianist for the civil weddings held here.
The best place to set up a digital piano is at the back of the room, just in front of the door to the disabled toilet. This is the ideal position for a pianist as it offers a good view of the registrars and the entrance of the building. It is crucial for our wedding pianist to have good eye contact with the registrars as they will give the start and stop cues for the piano music.
At the Reid Rooms, it is the usual practice for the guests to arrive at the venue and wait in the courtyard or the bar until the venue staff ask them to enter the ceremony room. Our wedding pianist will play background music from the moment your guests start entering the ceremony room.
Live Music for Your Drinks Reception
If the weather is nice and sunny then the drinks reception will usually be held outside in the Reid Rooms courtyard. Our musicians are more than happy to join you outside and will set up their instruments under the black spiral staircase in the corner of the courtyard. This position provides the best access to electrical sockets (on the balcony) and the most protection from wind.

You can rest assured that both our pianists and our piano and drums duo bring sufficient amplification for playing outdoors.
In the event of overcast skies and a met office weather forecast predicting rain, our musicians will set up on the dancefloor in the bar and fling the windows and doors wide open. I hope that you can understand that we just can't risk our instruments and electrical equipment getting rained on!
If the weather is inclement then the drinks reception will be held in either the bar or the lounge. This will often depend on the number of guests at your wedding and it is something that you will have decided on in advance with the Reid Rooms.
For drinks receptions in the bar, we will use a digital piano and a small speaker system. If you choose to have the drinks reception in the lounge, then we will use the grand piano.
Piano Music for Your Wedding Breakfast
The Reid Rooms has an elegant black grand piano in the lounge adjacent to the banqueting hall. When we provide a pianist for the wedding breakfast at the Reid Rooms, we ensure that the adjourning glass doors are locked open so that the beautiful sound of the grand piano can drift across the dining room as you enjoy your wedding breakfast.

A DJ or Wedding Band for Your Evening Entertainment
James (our wedding DJ) is a regular DJ at the Reid Rooms and you are likely to see him DJing if you book the all-inclusive wedding package that is offered by the venue.
Depending on our schedule, James will either set up the disco equipment in the morning (before your guests arrive) or during the wedding breakfast. We will make sure that our mood lighting is on and that there is background music playing as soon as the bar opens and your evening guests start to arrive.
Access to the bar is very good for loading and unloading equipment. We drive our van into the courtyard and wheel our equipment up the ramp and into the bar. This is particularly useful for when our function band Mojo6 is booked to play for weddings here.

The music license at the Reid Rooms lasts until midnight. It is important to us that we finish exactly at midnight when we play here so that we are not the cause of complaints about noise from the neighbouring villagers.
The Reid Rooms does not have a sound limiter and this is brilliant for live music. You will find that some wedding venues have a sound limiter that trips the electrics whenever the volume of sound exceeds a certain level. These sound limiters are often accidentally triggered by an overly loud drum or cymbal and you can imagine the effect that this has on the evening entertainment.
